BOMB THREAT

Immediate reaction to threat receipt:
This checklist is designed to assist you to evaluate and document information when recieving a bomb threat.
If you receive a bomb threat by telephone- do the following:

  1. Stay calm; stay on the phone and be polite and patient.
  2. Listen carefully and get as much information as you can from the person delivering the threat.
  3. Use your bomb threat checklist (and client’s emergency & safety procedures flip chart) as a guide for questions.
  4. As soon as the phone conversation has ended, do not hang up. Go to another phone and:
  5. Call 911/ notify client.
  6. Notify your supervisor.
  7. Complete the bomb threat checklist and incident report.
    If you receive a bomb threat in person- do the following:
  1. Stay calm; be polite and patient.
  2. Listen carefully to any information provided by the person delivering the threat.

  4. While you are talking, try to remember any identification information.
  5. When they leave your immediate area follow steps 3 thru 7 above.
  6. Notifications
    If a guard receives the threat, the first notification to be made will be the police 911. Following that call will be made to client and SJ Solutions management.

GENERAL PROCEDURES

    Applies to all Apps:
  1. Restart your phone.
  2. Make sure only work related apps are currently running on your phone.
  3. If you are still unable to clock in or clock out, after steps 1 & 2,
    use the sign in sheet to sign in or sign out then text the call center with the details of your issue.
  4. If you are still unable to submit your form, after steps 1 & 2,
    you might have to install and run an antivirus program to clean your phone as the error notice indicates.
    Guest Procedure and Law Enforcement:
  1. Any guests/visitors must be cleared by the site manager before given access to the construction site.
  2. Any active Law Enforcement entities are not allowed onto the site without the approval of the site manager.
    Delivery Procedures:
  1. Any deliveries to the construction site are to be documented in the Daily Activity Report (DAR). Notify the site manager of the delivery before granting access to the site.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Several methods of interactions are used by Security Professionals to improve effectiveness and maximize Security Professional safety. Knowledge of interaction dynamics and techniques help Security Professionals assess the safety hazards present in a given situation.

    Security Professionals should be able to make informed choices about the following decisions:
  1. When to interact.
  2. When to avoid interaction or disengage.
  3. When to involve police support.
  4. How to interact in a manner that maximizes benefits to the Security Professional while deterring escalation by the subject.

Security Professional safety is the primary concern at all times. Do not perform activities that are hazardous, if they can be avoided, especially when, with awareness and some tactical thinking, a safer alternative course of action is readily available.
Security Professional safety means Security Professionals acting in a manner that minimizes the hazards of patrolling and interacting.
All the knowledge you learn to be a Security Professional combines to keep you safe. Proper radio communications keep you in updated contact with your support team. Proper stance and verbalization act as a deterrent to escalation during interactions. Recognizing pre-crime activity aids, you in spotting a potentially hazardous situation. It all matters.

Several key concepts and techniques are crucial for Security Professional safety.
    Use C.A.L.M. De-escalation Practices:
  1. COMMUNICATE WITH RESPECT
  2. AVOID PHYSICAL CONFRONTATION
  3. LAW ENFORCEMENT IS CALLED WHEN NEEDED
  4. MAINTAIN A SAFE DISTANCE
    Proper Interaction Stances and Postures:
  1. Body should be faced at 45 degrees away from subject
  2. Hands positioned in front
  3. Stance should not be perceived to be hostile or threatening
    Improper Stances and Postures:
    Security Professionals should NOT stand during interactions in ways that are detrimental to a successful outcome, including:
  1. Standing with hands in pockets.
  2. Standing with hands on hips or arms folded.
  3. Standing with objects in hands—clipboards; or even radios not being actively used.
  4. Standing too close or fully facing open to the subject.
  5. Standing facing fully away from the subject—not turning to address.
  6. Leaning on or against anything.
  7. Slouching or otherwise communicating ineptitude.
  8. Standing with aggressive body language when not warranted.

GUARDS MUST NOT AT ANY TIME STRIKE AN AGRESSOR.

FIRE ALARM RESPONSE

During a fire alarm the following procedures should be followed.
    A security officer should never try to extinguish a fire.
  1. Call 911, be prepared to give your name, facility name and location.
  2. Coordinate with SJ Solutions management to inform them about the alarm.
  3. Meet the fire department and proceed to the location of fire, fire alarm panel.
  4. Do not allow any incoming traffic into the facility except when given approval by the fire department.
  5. Document incident and all response times in an incident report.
